Mica & DCB rebuild kitchens in Donegal

One less thing
to worry about.

Rebuilding your home because of defective concrete blocks brings enough uncertainty. Your kitchen should be something you can look forward to, with a team beside you who understands the pressures involved.

Let us make this part easier.

You may be managing temporary accommodation, changing dates and a budget that already feels stretched. At Dukes, we take the time to understand where you are and what you need. Then we help you plan a kitchen that feels like yours, with clear advice and practical support at each stage.

Your budget is part of the design.

Good design starts with listening. We talk about how you cook, what your family needs and what you feel comfortable spending. From there, we work through the layout, storage and finishes together, explaining where your money will make the most difference. You can still be excited about your new kitchen while keeping a firm eye on the cost.

Your kitchen, step by step

A clear plan, at your pace.

  1. Start wherever you are.

You do not need every answer before you visit. Bring your drawings if you have them, tell us about your rebuild and let us know what is on your mind. We will help you understand the next steps over a cuppa in our Newtowncunningham showroom.

  2. Shape the kitchen around you.

We develop the design with your budget in mind. Our Live Design service lets you explore ideas with your designer on screen, so you can see how the room will work and ask questions as it takes shape.

  3. Agree the price. Take time with the details.

We can lock the price of your agreed kitchen for up to 12 months, with final choices made 8–10 weeks before fitting. We explain what is covered by your agreed specification and discuss any changes with you, so you know where you stand without rushing every decision.

  4. Let us coordinate the kitchen fitting.

We work with your contractor and the trades involved to plan the kitchen installation. If other work runs late, we stay in contact and work through the revised timing with them and you. Our aim is to reduce the chasing and give you a clear picture of what happens next.

  5. Feel looked after once it is fitted.

Our support continues after installation. We offer an aftercare site survey to check the finished kitchen with you and talk through anything that needs attention, helping you settle into the room with confidence.

How the Mica / DCB redress scheme affects your kitchen

Your kitchen is one part of a wider rebuilding project. Its design, installation date and payment arrangements need to fit the approved work and the progress on site. We help with the kitchen side: a clear design and specification, the relevant invoices and contact with the trades involved. Your scheme approval and the advice of your appointed building professional remain the starting point for questions about eligible work and grant payments.

When kitchen decisions happen in a rebuild timeline

It helps to consider the layout while your drawings are being developed. The positions of the sink, appliances, sockets and extraction can affect work by other trades, so these decisions deserve attention before the room is finished. Colours and handles can come later: we work towards final choices 8–10 weeks before fitting. We will talk you through the decisions that affect the building work and those that can wait, then review the fitting plan as the room becomes ready.

What to bring us

Bring your latest drawings if available, your project location, the stage of your rebuild and any likely dates from your contractor. A comfortable budget range, photographs of your previous kitchen and a few saved ideas are useful too. Tell us what worked in your old kitchen and what made everyday tasks awkward. None of this needs to be perfectly organised; if you are still waiting for information, we can explain what will be helpful next.

Practical help with payments and paperwork.

We understand that the timing of scheme payments can put pressure on your cash flow. Dukes is registered with the DCB scheme, and we provide the invoices needed to support your payment claims, including deposit and later-stage invoices where applicable. We discuss the payment schedule with you early and work with the scheme’s payment process when planning your kitchen.

Payment approval and release remain subject to the scheme’s requirements and the local authority’s assessment.

A few things you may be wondering.

Do you design kitchens for Mica / DCB rebuilds in Donegal?

Yes. We help Donegal homeowners plan their rebuild kitchen from our Newtowncunningham showroom, working with their budget and the wider building programme. Tell us you are undertaking a DCB rebuild when you enquire so we can discuss the practical support you need.

Can we speak to you before our fitting date is confirmed?

Yes. An early visit gives us time to understand your plans and budget. You do not need a confirmed fitting date or a complete list of finishes to get started.

What if our rebuild is delayed?

Let us know as soon as your plans change. We will liaise with the relevant trades and review the kitchen schedule with you. If a delay could affect your price-lock period or agreed arrangements, we will talk it through with you.

Do we have to decide on colours and finishes straight away?

No. We can agree the kitchen and price-lock arrangements first, with final choices made 8–10 weeks before fitting. Your designer will explain which decisions are needed at each stage.

Can you work with our contractor and other trades?

Yes. We coordinate the kitchen installation with the contractor and trades involved and keep in touch when the programme changes. We help manage the kitchen arrangements; your appointed building team remains responsible for the wider rebuild.

Can you help with invoices for scheme payments?

We provide invoices to support payment claims, including deposit and later-stage invoices where applicable, and discuss payment timing with you early. The local authority decides whether a claim meets the scheme requirements and when it can be paid.

Can you help us keep the kitchen within our budget?

We design around the budget you feel comfortable with and explain how the layout, materials and specification affect the price. Tell us your priorities early so we can put the investment into the things that matter most to you.

What support is available after fitting?

We offer an aftercare site survey to look over the completed kitchen with you and discuss anything that needs attention. You can contact our showroom team with questions after installation.
